Emergency Notification Update 11-9-2022 2 a.m.

Tonight a Design & Production student was shot off campus on Vargrave St. at Hwy 52. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. There is currently no known threat to campus. 

To support our community, each art school and High School has arranged a time to meet on Wed., Nov 9; see schedule below. Design & Production classes are canceled before 2 p.m., classes after 2 p.m. are optional. Drama classes before noon are canceled, classes after noon are optional.

  • 9 a.m. School of Music, Watson Hall
  • 9:30 a.m. School of Dance, Crawford Hall
  • 10 a.m. School of Filmmaking, ACE Main Theatre
  • 10:30 a.m. School of Drama, Catawba Theatre
  • 11 a.m. School of Design & Production, Freedman Theatre
  • 1 p.m. “Sweeney Todd” Cast and Crew, Freedman Theatre
  • Staff and DLA faculty can attend any of the meetings above.

Students can gather in Eisenberg until 2 p.m. today where counselors and Student Affairs staff will be available for conversations. If you need additional assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Counseling Center for a walk-in appointment or after-hours counseling at 855-726-1497.

Faculty and staff may access the state’s 24/7 Employee Assistance Program administered by ComPysch by calling 888-311-4237 or download the Ginger mental health app at no cost to you.

UNCSA Campus Police and Public Safety are available and patrolling the campus 24/7. If you feel unsafe or need assistance dial 55 from a landline or 336-770-3362. You can also download Rave Guardian (our campus safety app).

We understand this event might cause distress or concern. If you need immediate assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our after-hours counseling service at 855-726-1497. Emergency Notification 11-8-2022 11:20pm

Today November 8, 2022 at approximately 10:20 pm we were notified of a 911 call to the city regarding an individual who was shot off campus at Vargrave St at Hwy 52. The individual drove to UNCSA campus seeking help. The UNCSA Police & Public Safety Department along with Winston-Salem Police Department responded. The victim was determined to be a student. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. Notifications to campus administration has been made.

The Winston-Salem Police Department will be leading the investigation.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a blue or gray older model Honda, with a driver’s side tail light out and rear end damage. No description of suspects available at this time.

  • Again, there is no threat to campus.
  • This incident did not occur on the UNCSA campus.

Conseling services is available for students at Artist Village as needed.


Safety Notice 8-30-2022

The UNCSA Police and Public Safety Department has received reports of vehicle break-ins and a stolen bike early this morning. Regarding the 6 vehicles entered, no forced entry was used. The vehicles were found unlocked by the suspects. Suspects also stole one unsecured bike.

As a reminder, please lock your vehicles and do not leave valuables in your vehicle or in plain sight. If you have a bike on campus, please register your bike with UNCSA Police to help increase chances of recovery if it were to be stolen, also be sure to secure your bike on a bike rack.

Safety Notice 8-20-2022

Note: There is no ongoing threat to campus at this time.

On today's date, August 20th, 2022 at approximately 5:00 pm we received a call of shots fired at the corner of Waughtown Street and Chapel Street just outside of campus. The UNCSA Police & Public Safety Department along with Winston-Salem Police Department responded and will be leading the investigation. The suspect was believed to be an unidentified male in a black Suzuki 4-door sedan. No injuries were reported at this time and no damage to any property.
