This initial new faculty orientation event is the first in the New Faculty Academy, a seven-event cycle that will be spread out during the 2018-19 school year. Hosted by the Provost’s Office, the initial meeting of New Faculty Orientation is designed to help new faculty better acclimate to the start of their work at UNCSA. You’ll meet other new faculty and UNCSA administrators and staff.  We’ll discuss a few important policies, take a short walking tour of campus and discuss academic and student support services available to assist our faculty and students.

Faculty Enrichment Day is August 9

Our annual Faculty Enrichment Day is usually the first day back to campus for most faculty―a day to celebrate and explore our roles as arts conservatory teachers.  This year, Faculty Enrichment Day is August 9, and it begins at 9 a.m. with Continental Breakfast in Eisenberg Social Hall, on the lower level of Hanes Student Commons.  Following breakfast, there will be three blocks of 75-minute and 60-minute concurrent sessions and a wide array of teaching-related workshops, demonstrations, and conversations from which to choose.  “Pull-Up-a-Chair” resource tables will be available for most of the day, with Learning Resources, the Writing Center, Police/Public Safety, and the Library representatives who are eager to chat about their respective services.  A full buffet lunch is scheduled for midday, and we end with a nice reception in Watson Music Hall Lobby.  All in all, a wonderful way to reflect on and prepare for teaching, reconnect and network with colleagues, and kick off the new academic year.
