Technology Strategic Plan: 2018-2021

Technology Strategic Plan: 2018-2021

This three-year plan includes foundation-establishing initiatives and evolutionary goals that will combine to transform the Technology Division into a strategic support group for all university endeavors. In doing so, it positions the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to achieve its vision as the leading conservatory of performing arts and media education in the United States. The plan captures a mix of immediate needs and long-range planning to navigate strategic direction for the next three years. Teams will be created around each objective and progress will be regularly communicated to campus.

Reinforce the foundation: Optimize resources, establish governance and enhance security

To fully support the university’s strategic plan and mitigate risk, the Technology Division needs to shore up and extend its foundation. In order to begin, we will need to establish strategic and operational governance groups to increase transparency and collaboration across all university technology communities. Update processes to close security gaps for data and networks. Elevate physical campus security with the addition of a robust video surveillance system, complete exterior access control, safety apps and social media monitoring.

Reengineer business processes and leverage data to inform decision making

Review and update processes that begin or end with technology systems. Streamline workflows and consolidate software solutions required to facilitate these processes. Increase access to information needed to inform decisions for the university.

Learning Technology

Support and evolve classroom and learning technology

Incorporate classroom technology into the Technology Refresh Program and develop centralized standards for updates. Support faculty and staff with training on systems and technology.

Digital Platforms
