Overview

Award-winning mezzo-soprano and faculty artist Phyllis Pancella will present a recital titled “Ripe,” “with Friends Old and New,” featuring favorite works from the baroque era to the current year. 

The evening will include a performance, with Faculty Artists Stephanie Patterson and Allison Gagnon, of Kamala Sankaram’s new witty work for mezzo, bassoon and piano, “A Certain Age.” Pancella will also be joined by longtime collaborator, pianist and composer Timothy Hoekman, who will accompany her for his piece “A Nash Menagerie,” as well as in a 25th-anniversary performance of Dominick Argento’s “Miss Manners on Music,” which they premiered together in 1998.

Pancella has performed with major opera companies and orchestras throughout the world and under the batons of Leonard Slatkin, Jane Glover, James Conlon and Anne Manson, among others.
