Overview
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women only players.” Those iconic words set the stage for Shaina Taub and Laurie Woolery’s joyful musical take on Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.” The place is the fantastical Forest of Arden, where Rosalind, Celia, Touchstone, Orlando, and a cast of what may look like thousands flee Duke Frederick’s kingdom and enter a woodland world where they get lost but find out who they are, are transformed and healed, and celebrate “community, difference, and diversity.” (The Daily Beast)
Captivating numbers like “Still I Will Love,” “The Man I’m Supposed To Be,” and “Will U Be My Bride,” set to a folk/pop score, create a Shakespeare-worthy experience full of the happiness and heartbreak, laughter and tears—and craziness—that make up life, and most of all, finding love and joy in challenging times. Originally commissioned by New York City’s Public Theater and named one of The New York Times’s “Best Shows of 2017" and Critic’s Picks, this adaptation of the Bard’s classic comedy will cast its magical spell on you.
