Jake is a second-year Lighting Design and Technologies student in the School of Design and Production. Originally from Elon, North Carolina,
Jake grew up visiting Winston-Salem with his family and feels incredibly lucky to
call UNCSA his home. This past summer, Jake worked on the Outer Banks of North Carolina
with the company of The Lost Colony and helped to entertain over four million guest
in their 81st season, thanks in-part he says, to the valuable professional connections
that only UNCSA could offer.
The student culture is unlike any other. I am surrounded by amazingly talented individuals
every day who are just as passionate about their craft as I am. I feel comfortable
being myself at UNCSA because this university allows and encourages you to be different.
One of my favorite spots in Winston-Salem is Winkler Bakery in the heart of Old Salem.
Fresh baked goods are my weakness, but I love the spot more for all of the happy family
memories I have from our visits to Old Salem during the Christmas season each year.
When I’m on campus though, I love to hang out in Design and Production with my friends
and see what they’re working on.
