Rachel Serafini

Rachel began dancing at age 5 in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. After six years of serious training, she was asked to be an apprentice for Artists in Rhythm (AIR) Dance Company. Rachel was then accepted into the undergraduate Contemporary Dance program at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she has performed works by Alexei Kremnev, Merce Cunningham, Charles Czarny and Juel D. Lane. She has been honored to receive multiple awards, including the Robert & Sonja Lindgren Scholarship, the Festival of North Carolina Dance Scholarship, the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship, a Campus Arts Scholarship and the Wills Family Scholarship.

UNCSA has enabled Rachel to specialize her training in the areas of contemporary and ballet. She is fortunate enough to train with world-class faculty such as Kira Blazek Ziaii, Ming-Lung Yang, Brenda Daniels, Sean Sullivan, Maurizio Nardi, Juel Lane, Abigail Yager, Jared Redick and Jennet Zerbe.

In addition to her dancing career, Rachel is passionate about blogging, vlogging and dance-for-film. She has had a wide array of work experience in the field of arts management, including coordinating summer dance programs. Following her college graduation, Rachel anticipates a career in commercial dance and also plans to open her own pre-professional training facility.
