Rebecca Klaft was born in Southern California and began her training in dance at age 8 at the Pacific Coast Academy of Dance. At 11 years old, she moved to North Carolina and continued her training at the Academy of Dance and Fine Arts. She also studied at the Piedmont School of Music and Dance for three years. Rebecca chose to further her dance education at University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Since attending, she has had the opportunity to perform in works such as Catherine Miller’s “Mind Mapping,” Ton Simons’ “Measuring Blue,” Trisha Brown’s “Solo Olos,” Merce Cunningham’s “Change of Address,” Martha Graham’s “Panorama” and in pieces by Sean Sullivan and Brenda Daniels.
Rebecca also attended the Cunningham Summer Workshop in 2015, where she performed Merce Cunningham’s CRWDSPCR. Since attending UNCSA, Rebecca has trained in Cunningham technique under Brenda Daniels, Limón technique under Sean Sullivan, Countertechnique with Kira Blazek and Graham technique under Maurizio Nardi. She has also trained with former Trisha Brown company members Abigail Yager and Ming-Lung Yang, along with professor Patricia Casey. She has studied ballet with Laura Martin, Jennet Zerbe, Eva Draw, Fanchon Cordell and Jared Redick.
