Zichao Liu is a second-year graduate student at the University of North Carolina School of The Arts studying trumpet performance with David Dash. He is from China and started playing trumpet in elementary school. He earned his bachelor's degree at Tianjin Conservatory of Music, where he was awarded a national scholarship.
He has played with the Tianjin Song and Dance Theater Symphony Orchestra, Kunming International Philharmonic Orchestra, Tianjin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Stars Symphony Orchestra, Gold Diggers Brass Ensemble and Jin Men Brass Quintet. In December 2020, he won the audition for Principal trumpet for the Kunming International Philharmonic Orchestra's Winter National tour, performing in eighteen different cities.
