High School Commencement Ceremony

The 2024 High School Commencement is at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem.

Troy Kotsur, whose groundbreaking role in “CODA” (2021) made him the first Deaf male actor to win an Academy Award, will be the commencement speaker at the High School and University ceremonies.

Graduates will be allotted eight guest tickets and the ceremony will be live-streamed for additional access.

We will follow all state-mandated guidelines for COVID-19 safety and our Community Health Standards.  Planning will be informed by guidance from local, state and federal public health authorities and applicable orders and regulations from the governor and relevant federal agencies.

Commencement Day Check-In

  1. Graduates need to leave all their personal belongings with their families. Graduates will have programs in their seats.
  2. Graduating students should arrive at the Benton Convention Center promptly at 1:30 p.m. on May 18, 2024. The ceremony starts at 2:30 p.m.
  3. Enter through the front doors of the Benton Convention Center and go straight down to the end of the hall (Salem Ballroom) or via the skybridge to the second floor, which leads to the ballroom.
  4. As you arrive, stage managers will be at a check-in table to sign you in and you'll receive any additional instructions.

Commencement Photography and Video

A live stream link of the ceremony will be on the uncsa.ecu homepage on the day of graduation. The ceremony will be from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Photo Specialties will take two photographs of each student as they cross the stage. The first will be on stage when they are handed their diploma and the second will be a posed picture after they cross the stage. These photos will be sent to parents and will be available for purchase.

Commencement will be live streamed and any videos that become available will be shared with students and parents. A live stream link of the commencement ceremony will be on the uncsa.edu homepage on the day of graduation.
