Teodora Proud

Serbian-American Oboist Teodora Pejašinović Proud is the assistant professor of Oboe at UNCSA. She previously taught at the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho, where she played with the Northwest Wind Quintet and was principal oboist of the Washington Idaho Symphony.

With her husband, saxophonist Joseph Proud, she formed the Proud Duo, a prize-winning chamber group which strives to expand the repertoire for this unique instrumentation by combining their different cultural backgrounds and engaging with a diverse group of composers. As both an American and European-trained oboist, she provides insight into a deeper understanding of the oboe and helps her students find their own voice and path.

I enjoy creating a supportive community among my oboe students, instilling in them both love towards the oboe and discipline in practicing and reed making.
