Dara Kovacevic

Dara Kovacevic (she/her) is an actor, singer, and dancer from Pittsburgh, PA. She got her start performing in a traditional Eastern European folk ensemble at the age of six, and has adored being on stage ever since. This is a girl who loves fashion, cooking, rock music, crossword puzzles, bubble baths, and carrying a little stuffed animal pal in her purse. Acting found its way to Dara before she could even read – asking her father to read her books to memorize and perform to her little brother, in the lower-bunk-bed-turned-theater with beaded, red stage curtains her mother handmade for her. Storytelling has always been at the core of who she is, and she cannot wait to spend the rest of her life creating and sharing more.

A few recent credits include Max in Meat (UNCSA, dir. Grace Steckler), Silvia in As You Like It: The Musical (UNCSA, dir. Andy Paris), Nannerl Mozart in Mozart (UNCSA Film, dir. Natalie Burchert), Sister Margaretta in The Sound of Music (Pittsburgh Musical Theater, dir. Colleen Doyno),  Angustias in The House of Bernarda Alba (UNCSA, dir. Michael Alvarez), and the Banker in Sweeney Todd (UNCSA, dir. ‘Lo Feliciani Ojeda). She also recently served as associate choreographer for Rock of Ages (dir. Brady Patsy) with The Collective, back home in Pittsburgh. Up next at UNCSA, you can catch her as Valeria in The Rover (dir. Carl Forsman)!
