The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts manages the use of Creative CoWorks and the shared use space available to tenants of the University Floor at 500 W Fifth Street on behalf of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Creative CoWorks is intended to be used for events that are programmatic in scope and that align with the strategic missions of the Kenan Institute and UNC School of the Arts.
UNCSA faculty, staff, guest artists, and community partners may request to use Creative CoWorks for meetings, convenings and brainstorming sessions that fulfill the mission of the space.
UNCSA students may not use the CoWorks space without supervision of faculty or staff, unless otherwise approved/documented in writing by the Kenan Institute. Faculty and staff should not hold meetings with individual students at Creative CoWorks, but should use the space for group interactions only.
For those requesting to use the space for filming purposes, please contact Liza Vest at vestl@uncsa.edu or 336-770-1432 for additional information and requirements.
Creative CoWorks encourages the free expression of ideas, opinions, and beliefs by the participants and guests in CoWorks activities and programs. The views and opinions expressed by CoWorks users are their own and not an endorsement by the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts and the UNC School of the Arts.
All users and visitors to the space must adhere to the UNCSA Together Community Health Standards. Mask wearing is optional for all faculty, staff, students and patrons as of March 7. Please do not enter Creative CoWorks if you are sick with any illness.
Events and convenings may be scheduled during Creative CoWorks operating hours of 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The CoWorks space follows the holiday schedule of the UNC School of the Arts and is not available during scheduled holiday breaks for campus staff and administrators. Events and meetings outside of these hours may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Filming in the space requires a separate set of procedures.
All resident and non-resident events or meetings must be scheduled at least 72 hours in advance.
In accordance with the visitor’s policy of 500 W Fifth management, all visitors must enter through the main entrance on Fifth Street and check-in with the security desk prior to making their way to the University Floor. All guests and visitors should be prepared to show ID.
For scheduling space at Creative CoWorks, contact Liza Vest at vestl@uncsa.edu or 336-770-1432.
