The Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at Winston-Salem State University seeks a graduate of the UNCSA School of Filmmaking to be the inaugural Creative Catalyst Fellow, tasked with assessing the needs of and creating promotional campaigns for the SBTDC and identified clients. Driven by the skill set and interests of the Fellow, these could include audio/visual, social media and/or print campaigns, or other opportunities as determined by the SBTDC and the Fellow.  The Fellow will have the opportunity to create positive impact through recommendations and deliverables to the SBTDC and its entrepreneurial clients, resulting in the development of relationships with business development leaders on local, state, and federal levels.  

Tentative Projects

  • Conduct a needs assessment for ways that the SBTDC can promote its services to three different populations
    • SBTDC stakeholders, including funders, policy makers,  government agencies, the UNC System, etc.
    • Small business clients 
    • Partners, including university offices, entrepreneurial organizations, economic development agencies, etc.
  • Analyze the needs of and advise 3 to 6 SBTDC clients on content development
  • Update and refresh existing SBTDC promotional material, to include:
    • Assessing and editing content, advising the SBTDC on what can be reused, what could be edited and what must be re-shot
    • Gathering additional more client testimonials from clients and host universities

Desired characteristics

  • Graduate of the UNCSA School of Filmmaking
  • Ability to carry out a needs assessment in a “trusted advisor role” for each of the three possible projects listed.
  • Ability to use creative tools to assist business owners to achieve goals or drive key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Ability to be comfortable leading projects with limited definition in scope
  • Ability to be comfortable with managing multiple projects based on shifting priorities
