Acting Out Summer Camps

Registration for 2026 Summer Camps opens January 2026.

Choose between our Summer Musical Theatre Camp and Acting Out Summer Day Camps. 

Acting Out Summer Musical Theatre Youth Intensive

Open to students in rising grades 6-9. Audition required.  

Created for emerging musical theatre performers, the Summer Musical Theatre Youth Intensive offers a supportive and professional space to learn and explore their art form. Students build confidence and skills while receiving guidance that meets them at their developmental stage. Students may apply for Week 1, Week 2 or combined Weeks. Out of town applicants are encouraged to apply, however, campus housing is not available.  

A non-refundable audition fee of $15 is required at registration. Following the completion of a successful audition and acceptance, the full amount must be paid by the registration deadline of June 1, 2026. No refunds after the start date.

Classes include acting, musical theatre dance technique, voice, improvisation, repertoire study, and special guest teachers leading classes such as audition preparation.  Students will have 15 minutes between each class and a 45-minute lunch break. Each week concludes with an informal presentation of their classwork.

Daily classes run from 9 am to 4:15 pm, Monday to Friday.

Arrival: 8:30 - 8:50 am

Dismissal: 4:15 - 4:30 pm

Apply & Audition

Rising Grades 6-9.

Complete an online application and submit audition materials via the links below. Community and Summer Programs staff review materials and send registration links to accepted students within two weeks of receiving the application.  The deadline for auditions is May 1, 2026.  Applying early is highly recommended. 

Audition Fee: $15 non-refundable

Audition Requirements: 

Singing and Monologue Audition (Required): Upload a single video containing a 32-bar cut of a song from musical theater repertoire and a contemporary monologue to Vimeo or YouTube. Total video length should be no more than 2.5 minutes. 

Dance Sample: (Encouraged but Optional) sample of musical theatre dance repertoire under 60 seconds of choreography (can be original or self choreographed) Upload to Vimeo or Youtube.

Auditions Form & Registration will open in January 2026.

Payment Deadlines

Following a successful audition and invitation to enroll, a non-refundable deposit of $75 is due at the time of registration.

Half of the remaining tuition is due by April 15, 2026 and the remainder of the tuition is due by June 1, 2026.

Total program fees are currently TBA. Fees will be announced prior to the opening of applications and auditions.

Acting Out Summer Day Camps

UNCSA Acting Out Summer Day Camps provide safe, interactive experiences with our professional faculty focused on building the foundational skills of acting while meeting new friends and building essential life skills such as confidence, public speaking, discipline, collaboration, and creativity.

Registration will open in January 2026.

2026 Dates & Fees

Daily classes run from 9 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Arrival: 8:30 - 8:50 am

Dismissal: 3:30 - 4:00 pm

Registration

Acting I: Rising Grades 3-5.

Acting II: Rising Grades 6-9.

A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required at registration to hold your place in the program. 

Class size is limited - please do not wait until the last minute to register, as summer camps fill quickly. Unpaid registrations and registrations received after a class has filled will be placed on a waiting list, pending cancellations.

Registration will open in January 2026.

Class Descriptions

Acting

Students will explore using their bodies, voices and imaginations to bring a story to life. Each class we will warm up with cooperative theatre games and fun improvisation to get creative juices flowing. Students will also build confidence and learn the value of teamwork and empathy, translating to skills both on and off the stage.

Voice

This class will focus on building confidence and technical musical skills, training in sight reading, rhythm, and vocal technique. Solo and small group numbers will be explored as well as adding theatricality and movement to a musical piece.  

Dance Movement

Students will learn technique for a musical theatre dance class. Class includes a warmup, across the floor combination, a center combination as well as explorations in improvisation and composition. 

Special Skills

This class will explore a variety of special topics surrounding acting including: acting for film, circus skills, storytelling creations, audition preparation, Shakespeare. Students will have an opportunity each day to explore a specialized topic in a variety of areas to create a well rounded understanding of all the ways acting, voice and movement can be applied.
