Lina Casas

Lina Maria Casas is a Colombian violinist who is currently pursuing a Professional Artist Certificate at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She holds a master’s degree in music performance from Louisiana State University, a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the National University of Colombia, and a high school diploma with an emphasis in music from the Conservatory of Ibagué in Colombia.

From 2017 to 2025, Lina has been a member of the Colombian Youth Philharmonic, which has given her the opportunity to learn from distinguished national and international professors and perform in numerous theaters across Colombia, Central America, and Europe. Committed to giving back, she has volunteered as a violin teacher with the “Creando Lazos” initiative, mentoring young talents across Colombia through both individual and group lessons. She has also served as a violin faculty member at the Rockin’ Mozart Academy and the Kids’ Orchestra program in Louisiana.

As a violinist, she has performed with various orchestras in Colombia and the United States, including the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá, the UNAB Symphony Orchestra, the Bogotá Chamber Orchestra, the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, and the Rapides Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Currently, Lina performs with local ensembles, including the Western Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, and serves as a teaching artist with the ArtistCorps program and the Community Music School at UNCSA.
