Sara Emery holds a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Georgia where she studied with Dr. Connie Frigo, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Performance from Ithaca College, where she studied with Dr. Steven Mauk.
Sara has taught private saxophone lessons and clinics for over 18 years and has presented and performed with large and chamber ensembles at many conferences, including the Georgia Music Teacher National Association, the Georgia Music Educators Association, the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium. Sara is a member of Music Teachers National Association and the North Carolina Music Teacher Association.
Prior to moving to Winston-Salem, Sara was the principal saxophonist and a founding member of the Gwinnett Symphony Wind Orchestra, and maintained a private studio in Athens, Georgia. Today, Sara is the principal saxophonist of The Salem Band and is a saxophone instructor for the UNCSA Community Music School.
