Taryn Griggs is a dancer, choreographer, Pilates instructor and Franklin Method teacher based in Winston-Salem, N.C. She has been creating, performing and touring dances with her husband, Chris Yon, since 2002. Griggs has also danced with Mary Cochran, Sara Hook, Sara Rudner, Susan Rethorst, Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Liz Roche/Rex Levitates, Anna Sperber, Johannes Wieland, Ivy Baldwin, Karinne Keithley Syers, Yoshiko Chuma, Hijack, Jodi Melnick, David Neumann and Netta Yerushalmy. She received a Sage Award for Performance in 2009 and a McKnight Fellowship for Dance in 2012.
Griggs teaches Dance and Pilates at UNCSA in the School of Dance, School of Drama, is the Artistic Administrator for the Preparatory Dance Program and is a visiting artist in the UNCSA Studio for Creative Practice. Current projects include Interstitial at SECCA with Chris Yon and a new commissioned work for the American Dance Festival with Chris Yon.
