Metanoia

The image shows two silhouetted figures behind a softly lit, golden screen, appearing to dance or move gracefully together as warm light shines through. Centered in front of them is the word “Metanoia” in elegant, amber-colored text.

Story

Mariana, a Latin American teenager grappling with her identity, travels to the US to visit her older brother. As they celebrate their last day together at a vibrant Latin Dance club, Mariana is given the courage to embrace her feelings for another girl.

Character Breakdowns

MARIANA - 15-19, Latin American, Spanish-Speaking.
Unable to express her true identity in her home country, she arrives in the US seeking the independence to explore who she might become. Quiet but unashamed, she’s eager to experience the freedom of dance, desire, and of finally being seen…LEAD.
Dance experience is a plus.

MATEO - 19-25, Latin American, Spanish-Speaking.
Confidently playful, but reluctant to share his deeper feelings. The first in his family to study abroad, Mateo carries the weight of his family’s expectations while quietly longing for home. As Mariana’s visit comes to an end, he’s forced to confront the young woman his sister is becoming and the parts of himself he can no longer hide…LEAD.
Dance experience preferred.

JULIANA - 17-19, Latin American, English-Speaking.
Secure, outgoing. Deeply connected and proud of her heritage, she expresses herself through salsa. Dance is an exchange of energy with her partner, but not necessarily a romantic one. She’s here for the rhythm…SUPPORTING.
Dance experience preferred.
