The University maintains a 20,600 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Fitness Center where students can learn, play, workout or get fit in group classes.

Orientation sessions to familiarize yourself with operating equipment are offered. To request an orientation session, email

Note: As of May 2017, the gymnasium is temporarily being repurposed for classroom and rehearsal spaces due to the renovations of Alex C. Ewing Performance Place. The gymnasium is expected to be reopened in 2020. Weight room, fitness equipment and aerobics studio are open.

Hours of operation

Academic Year

During the Fall and Spring Academic Year, hours are:

Monday-Thursday: 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m.
Friday: 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Sunday: noon-10 p.m.

Summer Seasonal

Summer Seasonal hours are from May 20–June 16 and July 22–Aug. 18:

  • Monday–Friday: 6:30–9 a.m.; 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.; 4–7 p.m.
  • Closed on weekends

Summer Intensives

Summer Intensive hours are from June 17–July 21:

  • Monday–Friday: 6:30–9 a.m.; 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.; 4–9 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: noon–9 p.m.

Winter Seasonal

The Fitness Center will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.

The first week of January, the Fitness Center will be open Wednesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 during these hours:

  • 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Closed on weekend of Jan. 5-6
