The vibrant “Cuentista!” program invites audiences on a journey through colorful landscapes, inviting characters and unforgettable tales — brought to life by the UNCSA Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds under the direction of Mark Norman.
From the bold rhythms of Arturo Márquez’s “Marcha Sonora” to the playful spirit of his “Caminandes Llamigos,” each work paints a distinct musical picture. Gabriela Ortiz’s “Kauyumari” draws inspiration from spiritual transformation, while Ferrer Ferran’s “El Bosque Mágico,” featuring faculty artist Rachel Messing on oboe, transports listeners to an enchanted forest. The program concludes with Dennis Llinás’ “La Chancla,” a joyful celebration of rhythm, movement and musical storytelling.
