Winston-Salem: The City of Arts and Innovation
Winston-Salem deserves its title as the City of Arts and Innovation. Whether you live here or are just visiting, you’ll feel right at home in Winston-Salem’s vibrant visual and performing arts community. There’s no shortage of things to do and places to explore.
The Arts
The Stevens Center is located in downtown Winston-Salem, and is home to many UNCSA student performances, along with events from the Winston-Salem Symphony, Piedmont Opera and more. You will also enjoy:
- a/perture Cinema
- SECCA (Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art)
- Reynolda House Museum of American Art
- ARTivity on the Green
Dining
In the City of Arts and Innovation, another kind of art is alive and well — the culinary arts. Winston-Salem has its fair share of homegrown restaurants that meet almost any appetite, whether you’re looking for fine dining, sushi, Mediterranean, seafood, a cup of great coffee or a plate of North Carolina barbecue.
Outdoor activities
Winston-Salem has many greenways and public parks. The 1.2-mile Strollway runs from Fourth Street in downtown to the Old Salem Visitors Center, near our campus. Salem Lake offers fishing, boating, trails and more. Reynolda Gardens is open during daylight hours year-round, with free admission.
