Animals on campus
There have been instances of dogs in campus buildings, which is a violation of our Animals on Campus Regulation 103. While we understand the affection for our pets, we want to stress the importance of this regulation.
What is allowed:
- Service animals are allowed in buildings when a dog has been individually trained to perform tasks for an individual with a disability. An ADA accommodation request must be submitted to Human Resources and approved.
- Animals on campus grounds — when in compliance with the Forsyth County Animal Control Ordinance, Chapter 6 of the Forsyth County Code, and the City of Winston-Salem leash laws.
- Animals brought to campus for the purpose specifically authorized and approved by the appropriate dean, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, or Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (such as for a UNCSA class demonstration, performance or production).
Ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for all employees is a priority. Many employees have allergies, anxiety or fear related to animals in the work environment. Therefore, we ask that everyone adhere to the Animals on Campus Regulation to maintain a positive atmosphere.
Please be aware that anyone found violating this policy will be requested to leave campus with their animal immediately. We ask everyone to respect this regulation for the comfort and safety of all.
