Lauren Alzamora

Lauren Alzamora grew up in Pinehurst, NC. She studied classical ballet and modern dance at UNCSA, graduating from the high school program in 2001. Her professional dance career began in NYC with Ballet Tech and took her around the world with companies such as Battery Dance Company, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet and Ballet Hispanico.

Early in her performing career, Lauren became a Certified Pilates Instructor through the Kane School of Core Integration in 2004 and later became a Teacher Trainer for the Kane School. She has received specialized training in such areas as Pre/Postnatal Pilates and Functional Anatomy for Movement and Injuries.

After retiring from the stage in 2015, Lauren taught Pilates at Westside Dance Physical Therapy and also had the opportunity to teach Dance Conditioning at Ballet Hispanico and Gibney Dance in Manhattan. She relocated to Winston-Salem in 2019 with her husband and children where she has since been an adjunct dance faculty member at UNCSA, also serving as guest faculty at the Festival of NC Dance and the 2022 UNCSA Summer Intensive. She recently completed her B.A. in Dance through the LEAP program at Saint Mary’s College.

Lauren is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She is thrilled to be teaching Children’s Dance at the Preparatory Program at UNCSA, where she began her own dance training almost 30 years ago!
