Ron Rudkin is a jazz performer, band leader, arranger and orchestral and chamber musician. In addition to maintaining an active performing career with his own jazz groups and dance band, Rudkin plays the clarinet in the Winston-Salem Symphony and has appeared with the North Carolina, Greensboro, Charlotte and Western Piedmont symphonies. He was named Emeritus Faculty in 2025. 

At UNCSA, Rudkin served as the Director of the Jazz Program and taught music theory for over four decades until his retirement in 2023. He directed hundreds of performances of the student jazz ensemble.
