In a professional career in technical theatre that spans over 25 years, Bill has been involved in virtually all disciplines of the entertainment industry, including drama, musicals, dance, opera, concerts, corporate events and theatrical consulting. During his career Bill has frequently served as a Technical Director and Production Manager for multiple companies. In his capacity as a theatrical consultant he designed technical systems and facilities for numerous theatrical and performing organizations whose productions have ranged from local dance and drama to nationally televised presidential debates. 

Bill has applied the broad spectrum of knowledge and experience that he has amassed into developing specific and practical theatrical system solutions. Many of these have been integral in the design of award winning projects. Some of the companies Bill has had a pleasure to work with include:  Warehouse Theatre, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Piedmont Opera, Hanes Brands, RJR Reynolds, Ingersoll Rand and Premier Healthcare Alliance.

As a teacher with both the University of North Carolina School for the Arts and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Bill has developed instructional programs in the areas of Scenery Fundamentals, Lighting Fundamentals, Welding, Metallurgy, Stagecraft, Vectorworks, Shop Practice and Techniques, AutoCAD, Inventor and Production Management. Additionally, he has developed and taught specialized classes in construction techniques for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as fellow professionals.

Bill brings to UNCSA his professional experience as a seasoned Technical Director, Production Manager, Business Manager and Director of Design and Production. In addition to his position at UNCSA, Bill is an active member with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 635, where he has held several officer-level positions over the years.
