"UNCSA Presents" shows "The Color Purple" (May 13) and Lula Wiles (May 20) at the Stevens Center will not take place as scheduled

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts has announced its two remaining productions of the 2019-20 season of “UNCSA Presents” at the Stevens Center will not take place as scheduled, due to local, state and national directives aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19.

The producers of the national Broadway tour of “The Color Purple,” scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, have canceled the remainder of the season. Lula Wiles, the virtuosic folk trio scheduled for Thursday, May 20, is postponed until a date to be determined.

“Like arts presenters across the country, we’re very disappointed that we cannot move forward with our scheduled shows this season,” said Wiley Hausam, who curates “UNCSA Presents” as the managing director of performance facilities. “We look forward to the time when the Stevens Center will return to life and welcome our community once more.”

UNCSA previously announced that “Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure,” scheduled for March 29, was canceled, and “The Choir of Man,” scheduled for March 31, has been postponed.

Those who have purchased tickets are asked to contact the UNCSA Box Office at 336-721-1945 or boxoffice@uncsa.edu to request a refund or arrange for donation of the ticket price.
