UNCSA alumnus wins Creative Arts Emmy Award

Will Files (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’02) won an Emmy for outstanding sound editing for a limited or anthology series, movie or special for Hulu’s “Prey.” He also earned two nominations for Netflix’s “Stranger Things” in the outstanding sound editing for a comedy or drama series (one hour) and outstanding sound mixing for a comedy or drama (one hour) categories for the “Stranger Things Chapter Nine: The Piggyback” episode.

Files was also a co-supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer for “Stranger Things” and co-supervising sound editor for “Prey.” He previously won an Emmy Award in 2020.

Files received his award at the Creative Art Emmy Ceremonies held Jan. 6 and 7 in Los Angeles. The ceremony, originally scheduled for Sept. 18, was rescheduled following prolonged strikes. The primetime Emmy Awards were presented on Jan. 15. Several other alumni are connected to shows that received Emmy nominations in multiple categories.
