Performance Overview

The UNCSA Symphony Orchestra makes its debut at Washington National Cathedral in the nation’s capital with a powerful program featuring Symphony No. 5 by Syrian-American composer and UNCSA alumnus Malek Jandali.

Founder of the nonprofit Pianos for Peace, which promotes peace through music and education, Jandali has been praised by The Washington Post as “a uniquely gifted composer… among the superb composer poets of our time.” Conductor James Allbritten also leads the orchestra in Mahler’s luminous Symphony No. 4, a work filled with warmth and wonder. Its ethereal final movement — radiantly sung by UNCSA student Claire Griffin — offers a child’s vision of heaven, with angelic voices joining in joyful celebration.

Experience this unforgettable evening as the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra takes the stage in one of America’s most iconic and inspiring sacred spaces.
