Alexander Nelson

Alexander Nelson is a musician, multidisciplinary artist, activist, and educator. Using his passion for learning and creative spirit, Alexander’s early musical education was self-taught, before discovering that there was a lot more to learn about the craft of creating music. To that end, he enrolled in the guitar program at University of North Carolina School of the Arts, studying under Joseph Pecoraro.

While in school, he composed original pieces for solo and duo guitar, and had the opportunity to perform original works for guitarist and composer Sergio Assad. His performing and teaching career continued, intersecting with his activism and joining ArtistCorps, a UNCSA organization devoted to teaching and lifting up the youth and seniors of Forsyth County, NC.  While with ArtistCorps he designed lesson plans, set goals for learning outcomes, and solved logistical challenges unique to each school and after school program where he served. He is excited to continue as an ArtistCorps member, bringing this important and life-changing work to communities in Forsyth County.

Currently, Alexander is enrolled in the Master's program of University of North Carolina School of the Arts, studying classical guitar performance, and is eager to see where the next leg of his journey will take him.
