Cecilia Garner is currently a third-year undergraduate student in cello performance at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). She began her cello journey at nine-years old when she saw Davide Amadio perform Faure’s Elegie in Venice, Italy, inspiring her to begin to study the instrument.
Cecilia has been a member of the the Asheville Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) Philharmonic, the ASYO Honors String Quartet, the ASYO Cello Choir, the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Global Cello Project (Covid Cello Project). She has participated in masterclasses taught by Richard Aaron, Nicholas Canellakis, and Galvin quartet member, Haddon Kay; as well as chamber coachings taught by members of the Balordet Quartet and Verona Quartet. She has shared the stage with Béla Fleck and Noah Bendix-Bagley, the concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, with whom she performed the Act II No. 4 Pt. 5 cello and violin duet from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake .
In her free time, Cecilia enjoys spending time in nature, reading, playing with her cats, and growing avocado trees.
