Ellie Chickoree is an actress and artist from Monroe, North Carolina (although, she’ll probably tell you she’s from Charlotte to make it easier for everyone). Raised by a mom from New Jersey and a dad from Trinidad, she first became enamored with performing at the age of five while watching "Wizards of Waverly Place" and basing her personality off of fellow middle child Alex Russo.
Now, her passion for theatre is fueled by the need to leave the world a more just and compassionate place than she has found it. She hopes her work can instill in you the belief that a better future for all of us is not only possible, but inevitable.
When Ellie isn’t on stage, she’s watching old SNL sketches, listening to 70s rock music that your dad probably thinks is really cool, or falling down a rabbit hole on Wikipedia that probably has something to do with US history or politics.
In the kickoff to this year’s Keys season, she portrayed “Sofia” in Mara Nelson-Greenberg’s dark comedy "Do You Feel Anger?" She’s incredibly excited to play Emilie in "The Moors" during her final semester at UNCSA!
