A North Carolina native, Jordan Shirtz began playing trombone like many others-after discovering his first choice was already taken.
His versatility across alto, tenor, and bass trombone, as well as sackbut, has led to performances with the Salisbury Symphony, Hickory Choral Society, Choir of King's College London, and ensembles throughout North Carolina. He has participated in masterclasses with James Miller of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Ron Westray, formerly of Jazz at Lincoln Center, and has performed under conductors including Richard Rosenberg, Matthew Kraemer, Kevin Noe, Chelsea Tipton, Michelle Merrill, Tõnu Kalam, and Evan Harger.
Jordan holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently pursuing his Master of Music at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studies with John Ilika. Outside of music, Jordan enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with his dog, Doodle, and cat, Biscuit.
