Matias Kruse

Matías Kruse is an actor, clown, and theatre-maker from Evanston, Illinois. He has always been full of energy and eager to share his passion with any willing audience. He believes in the power of play, laughter, community, and being authentically you. Matías believes making people laugh is probably the best feeling in the world.

As a child, he would put on elaborate costumes and create quirky characters in an effort to raise a chuckle out of family and friends. Looking for an outlet for his creative energy, he began to take circus arts classes and perform in shows at The Actors Gymnasium. This quickly became his second home from age eight until he left for college. His background in circus embedded a deep love for movement and physical storytelling, as well as clowning.

He also discovered a love for comedy in his high school sketch comedy show, in which he acted, directed, and wrote for four years. These passions have led him to seek more training in physical theatre, which he studied in Italy two summers ago and hopes to deepen his knowledge in. A lifetime student, Matías loves to learn and when he is not in class he is reading a non-fiction book, doing handstands, or hanging out with his cat. One day he hopes to help create a theatre company where he can work with his lovely peers and create his own work.
