Natalia Ellis

Natalia Ellis is a second year undergraduate student studying Contemporary Dance in the School of Dance.

She grew up in Rockport, Massachusetts where she danced at Cape Ann Center for Dance. There, she first got introduced to techniques such as Graham and Horton. In addition, Natalia was apart of the iKADA Youth Program located in Jersey City. Through this program, she performed four times at the Alvin Ailey Theater.

Natalia's educational experiences include co-teaching 6th and 7th grade Creative Writing at the Waring school, co-captaining varsity soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, fostering a middle school math study group, co-leading a Feminist club, and teaching children's dance classes.

In her movement, Natalia explores the intersection between academics and dance. She is interested in how literature can inform movement by using a text's concept as a choreographic prompt. Her main question is ""How can we process academic education through artistic expression?"".

Supplementally, Natalia spends time painting landscapes, swimming, reading, and enjoying quality time with loved ones.
