Pierson Rickard is a 2nd-year undergraduate student pursuing his Bachelor's of Music in Music Performance, trombone, studying with Mr. John Ilika at UNCSA. He is experienced in a range of musical ensembles from playing solo to playing in chamber and large ensembles. His leadership and artistry have been recognized through collaborations with prominent composers and his brass quintet's selection as a finalist for the American Prize in Chamber Ensemble Performance.
Alongside playing the trombone, Pierson has also had a longtime passion for conducting and plans to pursue higher education degrees in conducting. He recently participated in the Conductors Institute of South Carolina and will attend the ​Conducting Masterclass & Workshop Series - Chicago in December 2026 led by Mr. Donald Schleicher.
