Zachary Olsen is a young violinist from Pfafftown, North Carolina. He is continuing at University of North Carolina School of the Arts where he graduated from the high school program, now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music, studying under Ida Bieler.
Zachary has attended NYU’s Summer Strings Intensive (2022) and has frequently enjoyed visiting the International Festival of Chamber Music at the Landesakademie in Ochsenhausen, Germany (2024-26). Zachary has also held masterclasses with renowned musicians Ilya Kaler and Lucy Chapman. Zachary has collaborated in professional recordings including the University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ school orchestra Stravinsky’s Firebird as well as a recording of Balint Karoski’s Organ Concerto No.5 “in memoriam György Ligeti” and Organ Concertino performed by soloist Nicole Keller. He also frequently performs in churches around Winston-Salem giving his talents in praise to God.
In his free time you can find Zachary playing all kinds of sports, primarily basketball, weightlifting, rock climbing, and swimming. He loves being active and pushing himself physically to become stronger. He also loves keeping up with his literacy in the French language by listening to artists such as Louise Attaque, Le maître GIMS, and Stromae.
