Alumni Artpreneur of the Year Awards
About
Alumni Artpreneur of the Year Awards
Alumni Artpreneur of the Year Award recipients are selected based on the measurable social, cultural or economic impact of the nominee’s body of work, including their current creative project/enterprise, and also the level of the nominee’s creative and professional success to which the nominee's work or enterprise reflects their commitment to the values of an Artpreneur.
Annually, two awards of $20,000 each are provided to alumni for their creative projects or creative enterprises. Awards for creative enterprises will go to a founder or co-founder of an enterprise (for-profit LLCs and sole-proprietorships, as well as non-profit organizations are eligible) that has existed as a legal, revenue-producing entity for between 2-10 years. 2023 Awards for creative projects will go to a generative/lead artist based on their verifiable body of work to-date, who are actively working on a creative project with a screening, opening, or publication scheduled to occur before May 31, 2024.
Nominees for this award do not submit an application for consideration. Instead, they are chosen by a nominating body of UNCSA constituents, based on the criteria stated above. 2023 Alumni Artpreneur of the Year Award recipients will be confirmed and notified by late April 2023.
The Artpreneur Initiative is administered and supported by the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts, with additional support from the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust and Margaret Scales and Graydon Pleasants. For more information, email Erin Edge at artpreneur@uncsa.edu(opens in new tab).
