Capstone Week
Capstone Week
UNCSA’s Capstone Week is a designated period at the end of each fall and spring semester featuring a unified schedule for final exams and assessments. Implemented as part of the Integrated Scheduling Initiative, Capstone Week is designed to reduce scheduling conflicts and provide a coordinated end-of-semester experience for students and faculty.

What to Know
- Only capstone activities attached to a specific class may occur during Capstone Week.
- Each class is assigned a two-hour block of time during the last week of instruction to use as a culminating experience, in the format best suited to the course content or learning objectives.
- All credited courses must meet during the last week of instruction using the capstone schedule.
- A student is expected to have no more than three capstones on a given day. If a student’s schedule results in more than three capstone events, the student may request an overload relief plan. In such situations, the student must request the relief plan no later than five weeks before the Capstone Week.
- Faculty must use the capstone time block assigned to their class. For those classes without a published meeting schedule in Banner, the scheduling of a capstone time must be approved by the dean or associate dean and must not cause any conflicts for students with the existing capstone schedule, including exceeding the three-event-per-day limit.
- Asychronous online courses must be completed by 1 p.m. on the fourth day of Capstone Week.
- High School student Capstone Week obligations must conclude by 7 p.m. daily.
- AP Exams take precedence in slot conflicts with arts courses.
- The Capstone Week schedule is posted on the UNCSA website to facilitate public access.
