The 2023 UNCSA SECC is underway
If you’re wondering if even a modest donation to the 2023 State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) will make a difference, the answer is “yes.” A little can go a long way, and a little bit more can do a lot more.
- As little as $10 can provide three nutritious meals for a senior.
- As little as $25 can provide a family with essential needs after a disaster.
- A gift of $50 can provide prenatal vitamins to three expectant mothers.
- A charitable $100 gift can provide 20 blankets for children displaced by conflict.
- A generous $250 donation can provide 25 middle schools with monthly arts education.
- An extraordinary $500 gift can provide six months of PTSD therapy to a veteran.
What are your priorities for charitable giving? Environmental protection? Medical
research? Social justice? If you are undecided about your priorities, you can see
the impact of a gift at the SECC Donation Impact Calculator.
The State Employees Combined Campaign was created to offer state employees of North
Carolina a choice in directing their contributions to charitable organizations. For
the past 38 years, SECC has provided a trusted way to support local, state, national
and international charities, and remains the only campaign authorized to solicit state
employees in the workplace. More than 10,000 state employees contributed to causes
they cared about in 2022. No state monies are used to run the campaign.
Our UNCSA campaign began on Sept. 20, and concludes on Nov. 17. Our monetary goal
this year is to donate a combined $5,000, and our participation goal is 50 employees.
This year, 777 charitable organizations are eligible for donations. Please visit the
SECC website or the Charity Navigator to learn more about this year’s charities.
If you make your donation by the end of our campaign, you’ll be entered into a raffle
to win a reserved parking spot near your office. (Please note that because of tax
rules you will still need to pay for the spot using the nonreserved rate.)
Donating is simple. On Oct. 4, you were emailed an "ePledge" link, allowing you to
make your pledge online. Can’t find it? You may also donate via the 2023 Online Pledge
Form that can be submitted directly to the SECC.
If you prefer a printed Giving Guide (booklet) and form, contact Ginger Caston at
castong@uncsa.edu. If you would like to space out your contribution, payroll deduction is available
(January through December 2024). Small monthly payroll deduction pledges allow you
to make a more powerful impact over time, and all of your contributions are tax-deductible.
