DLA Dean Campus Visit Open Forum Invite

Dear UNCSA Campus Community,
We’d like to extend an open invitation to join several upcoming open forums and hear from our finalists for the Dean of the Division of Liberal Arts position at UNCSA. Provost Sims named a search committee and kicked off this search in the Fall of 2025. Since then, the search committee spent considerable time reviewing applications, interviewing, and narrowing the field from over 100 candidates down to 4 highly qualified individuals who have been invited to campus to meet with key constituents. This is a critical step that will help inform the difficult task of identifying the University’s next DLA Dean.

These forums will be hosted by one of the search committee co-chairs and will be in-person attendance only. The format will be as follows:
- 5 minutes welcome/opening remarks
- 20 minutes presentation
- 30 minutes moderated Q&A
- 5 minutes wrap-up
The presentation prompt is:
UNCSA students operate in a uniquely demanding academic and artistic environment. How would you, as Dean of the Division of Liberal Arts, envision strengthening the integration of liberal arts and artistic training to support student learning, creativity, and long-term success?
Attendees will be asked to respond to a survey to provide their feedback on the finalists.
One key note: all finalists have waived their right to confidentiality in order to meet with a larger group of folks on campus. That said, we would still appreciate professional discretion by not sharing candidate names or information outside this process. Many of these folks are currently employed in leadership positions at other institutions and would prefer that their candidacy not be publicized broadly. We will not be sharing individual candidate CVs, but each candidate will be introduced at the beginning of the open forum with a brief bio.
Thank you all in advance for your time and for your valuable insights into this mission-critical leadership role. Please reach out to Arveril Johnson-Jones, EA to the Dean of DLA, if you have any questions about this invitation.
