The Chancellor's Note: November 2025

Dear UNCSA Community,

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so now is the perfect time to ask people at UNCSA what they’re thankful for. Check out our video to hear from folks all around our campus as to what they are thankful for.

As for what I’m thankful for, as I tell families, friends and graduates every commencement in May, I am forever grateful to the visionaries who founded UNCSA; to the N.C. General Assembly, which realized the dream; and to the Winston-Salem community that fought for our school. Thanks to these people, we are privileged to celebrate the 60th anniversary this year.

I am also thankful for the UNCSA Board of Trustees, the UNC Board of Governors, and our generous supporters who keep it thriving; and for the dedicated faculty and staff who have worked tirelessly to provide an outstanding education to our students.

Finally, I am thankful for the students, who use their training not only to express themselves artistically, but also to leverage their art as a catalyst for positive change in our culture and society and making our world a better place.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Sincerely,

Brian Cole
Chancellor
