Luke Payne has held a long relationship with UNCSA, teaching in the guitar program as interim professor, as resident artist for the UNCSA summer guitar workshop, UNCSA community outreach programs, and now as visiting faculty in the School of Music. A passionate and dedicated teacher with many years of experience, he has also held teaching positions for Winston-Salem State University, Salem Academy, Grace Church Arts Academy, Wake Forest University and the Suzuki School of the Arts. A versatile and multifaceted artist, Payne has appeared with numerous ensembles around the southeast US, performing in a wide palate of styles ranging from classical to rock to contemporary fusion. Luke remains a devoted student of all kinds of music, including the classical music of India, which he has studied for several years with Gaurgang Doshi. A CD release of original songs in was completed in 2012.
