Rick Davidson grew up playing traditional music on the fife in Williamsburg, Virginia. He began
playing old-time string band music in Surry County, North Carolina, in 1989 with The
Pilot Mountain Bobcats and later with The New Pilot Mountaineers.
Davidson's passion is playing old-time string band music on fiddle, old-time banjo,
guitar and upright bass. With his wife, Joanne, he plays roots music at traditional
contra and square dances, fiddle festivals, and other community gatherings. They recently
produced several string band albums performed by collectives of regional old-time
musicians under the artist’s name “Dolly & the Devil.”
