Performance Overview

Slip off your sunglasses and find your groove as “Almost Famous,” the raucous musical based on the cult classic film, arrives at UNCSA. Set in the vibrant world of 1970s rock and roll, follow young journalist William Miller as he lands a Rolling Stone assignment and tours with a rising band — discovering the chaos, camaraderie and thrill of life on the road.

Guest artist Sarna Lapine (Broadway director of “Sunday in the Park with George,” “Call Me Izzy,” “Into the Woods”) leads this production that bursts with energy, humor and heart. Of her work on “Annie Get Your Gun,” the Sag Harbor Express writes, “Only a curmudgeon... could resist the feel-good appeal of director Sarna Lapine’s fresh rendering.” Megan D’Amico gives music direction with choreography by faculty member Lisa Mayer.
