The Composition program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts is dedicated to giving you the tools and opportunities you need to develop your musical language. Guest Ensembles

Balourdet String Quartet

Award-winning Quartet in Residence of the Seattle Chamber Music Festival pays two visits, first in September with a performance of Paul Novak's delightful impossible inventions, then returning in January for a recording session of new compositions by Barrett Bailey, Erin Giuliano, Victoria King and David Huang Mailman. 

Exponential Ensemble

New music ensemble residency in January includes a program of fantastic new music as well as a recording session of new compositions by Quinn Albinus, Jacob Burnette and Magnus Myers.  

Winston-Salem Symphony

The Winston-Salem Symphony chooses a winner of their annual competition for UNCSA student composers for a professional premiere in March.


Performance Faculty Projects

Watson Brass 

Resident faculty brass quintet competition for student composers, winning work premiered in November.

Piano

Faculty artist Dmitri Shteinberg records new works for piano by Beth Anderson, Perrin Antonopoulos, Joshua Dellinger, Matt Dewees, Ashton Latimer, Hunter Levin, Edan Love, Sarah Martin, Alene Sathish and Jesse Sawaya.

UNCSA Symphony Orchestra
