High School Rehearsal & Commencement Day Information

The 2022 High School Commencement is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem. Graduates will be allotted guest tickets and the ceremony will be livestreamed for additional access. We will follow all state-mandated guidelines for COVID-19 safety and our Community Health Standards.  Planning will be informed by guidance from local, state and federal public health authorities, as well as applicable orders and regulations from the governor and relevant federal agencies. Rehearsal is Friday, May 13, 2022

Rehearsal for High School Commencement will be in-person and will follow the Senior Breakfast. Transportation to and from the Benton Convention Center is provided. Schedule is:

  • 9 a.m. - Senior Breakfast in Eisenberg Social  Hall
  • 10:45 a.m. - Bus transportation to Benton Convention Center
  • 11 a.m. - Commencement rehearsal at the Benton Convention Center. Students will be transported back to campus.

Note: On graduation day, if you will need transporation back to campus let staff know at rehearsal.

Commencement Day Check-In

  1. Graduates need to leave all your personal belongings with your familes. Graduates will have programs in their seats.
  2. Graduating students should arrive at the Benton Convention Center promptly at 9 a.m. on May 14, 2022. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m.
  3. Enter through the front doors of the Benton Convention Center and go straight dow to the ned of the all (Salem Ballroom) or via the skybridge to the second floor, which leads to the ballroom.
  4. As you arrive, stage managers will be at a check-in table to sign you in and you'll receive any additional instructions.

Commencement Day is Saturday, May 14, 2022

A livestream link of the ceremony will be on uncsa.edu homepage on the day of graduation. The ceremony will be from 10 a.m.-noon.


Graduating students requested tickets for their guests. Those tickets were emailed to the graduating students' UNCSA artist email address in April. Please ensure each guest has either an electronic copy of their ticket or a printed copy.

Family & Guests 

Families and guests should arrive between 9-9:15 a.m.. Seating will be first come, first served. Doors will open at 9:20am. Guests of graduates should plan to arrive together to be seated together. Do not leave empty seats between seating parties as this will delay in seating all of the ticketed guests.

Photography and Video

Photo Specialties will be taking two photographs of each student as they cross the stage. The first will be on stage when they are handed their diploma and the second will be a posed picture after they cross the stage. These photos will be sent to parents and will be available for purchase.

Parents may take pictures during and after the ceremony. There will be two picture stations set up that families can use to take individual or family pictures.

Graduation will be live streamed and any videos that become available will be shared with students and parents.

The Benton Convention Center (301 W. Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127) is connected to the Marriott Winston-Salem and parking deks via climate controlled skybridges. The Benton Convention Center Parking (PDF)(opens in new tab) is available for printing or to download. There is ample parking available in the City of Winston-Salem’s 6th/Cherry-Trade Parking Deck (for a small fee). There are also hundreds of on-street parking spaces downtown that are free on weekends. Carpooling is encouraged. 

COVID-19 Protocols

Follow the UNCSA Community Health Standards. If you experience symptoms, stay home and watch the livestream.

As both indoor and outdoor masking has been declared optional by UNCSA, the city of Winston-Salem, and the state, at this time masks will not be required at commencement. However, this could change if the COVID-19 situation changes.
