Alejandro Cuellar

Alejandro Cuellar is a Bass from San Antonio, Texas.  He earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a Distinction in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2023, where he performed in such roles as Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), and Commendatore (Don Giovanni). 

Alejandro was recently an Apprentice Artist with Sarasota Opera in Spring of 2026. While at Sarasota Opera, he played the role of Sergente (La Bohème), performed in three scenes concerts, and was a chorister for all four of their productions (La Bohème, The Merry Widow, Il Trovatore, Susannah). This was an incredibly historic season for the company, as it marked the 44th and final season for legendary Artistic Director and Conductor Victor DeRenzi, who Alejandro had the pleasure of working alongside with and received a Masterclass from. 

In 2025, Alejandro made his main stage debut with Opera West! in Santa Fe, New Mexico as Pinellino (Gianni Schicci), where they had the World Premiere of a new English libretto for the opera. He also made his International debut with Clyde Opera in Glasgow, Scotland as Zuniga (Carmen). 

He has also participated in Young Artist Programs, including OPERA San Antonio/Classical Music Institute in both 2023 and 2024, as well as OperaWorks in Atlanta in 2024. He has been a Bass chorister for both OPERA San Antonio and Austin Opera, where he has sung in notable productions, such as Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Verdi’s Requiem, and Puts’ The Manchurian Candidate.

Alejandro has also performed as a Bass soloist in oratorios such as Händel’s The Messiah, and Haydn’s The Creation. He remains very active in professional church choirs, and has been a clinician, judge, director, and voice teacher for high schools in the greater Central Texas area.
