Ben O’Brien (he/him) is an actor, writer, musician, and former Rubik's Cube enthusiast. Hailing from the great plains of Colorado, Ben’s love for the outdoors permeates his work as an artist. His mission in storytelling is to enlighten people to the joys and wonders of life that we have buried beneath the busyness of modern living. He believes hurry is the great enemy of a spiritual life and of art. After much encouragement from his childhood voice teacher, Ben joined his first school play in the 5th grade, where he discovered his passion for embodying characters with his full self.
At UNCSA, he has played Yepikhodov in Stephen Karam’s “The Cherry Orchard”, Bennie in “Getting Out” by Marsha Norman, and in November he will be playing bass live onstage as Larry Fellows in “Almost Famous” by Cameron Crowe and Tom Kitt, directed by Sarna Lapine. This semester, he will be premiering his original play “Incantations”.
When not acting, you can probably find Ben playing his guitar, sitting by a lake, eating a bowl of ice cream, or doing all three at the same time.
