Ghalip Ekber, a tenor from Ghulja, China, is completing his Professional Artist Certificate (PAC) under the guidance of Marilyn Taylor. His operatic repertoire includes Horace in La Colombe, Idomeneo in Idomeneo, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas, and Oronte in Alcina.
Ghalip received an Honorable Mention at the 23rd FEO Voice Competition in 2024 and was awarded the prestigious Huang Zi Award at the 3rd Chinese Art Song International Singing Competition at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2023. In summer 2024, he joined the Chautauqua Opera Conservatory. He was also selected as an Apprentice Artist for the Vocal Young Artist Training Program of China during the 4th Shenzhen Vocal Music Season in 2022.
As a concert soloist, Ghalip has performed with the Winston-Salem Mozart Club as a tenor soloist in Handel’s Messiah and with Niagara Opera Company in A Night at the Opera. His concert repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem and Vesperae solennes de confessore, Pergolesi’s Magnificat, and Bach’s Cantata BWV 77, Du sollt Gott, deinen Herren, lieben. He has also been featured in the China International Vocal Music Art Week Concert.
If you’d like, I can also make this more concise and polished for a printed opera program, with a stronger emphasis on his most significant training and performance credits.
